In 1838, Carl Hornemann starts an ink factory in Hannover, Germany. After almost 100 years of ink production, they expand their product line with the launch of their first Pelikan fountain pen. The piston filling system of the first Pelikan pens is revolutionary. And also the design turns out to be timeless, because almost 100 years later, Pelikan has an impressive reputation, and is still widely known for its classic, green-striped piston-filled fountain pen: the Souverän.

Stresemann

The Souverän fountain pen (as well as ballpoint, rollerball and mechanical pencil!) still stands strong after almost a full century. Pelikan became iconic for their unique striped finish, named after German politician Gustav Stresemann, who was known for his pinstripe suits. The design may have been unchanged in all those years, it can hardly be called dated. Quite the opposite even, Pelikan continuously strives for innovation, with yearly new releases in the Classic and Souverän lines. The patterns and color schemes always vary, so that each pen has its own unique character.

The classic green-striped Souverän with gold trim is still a widely popular pen after almost 100 years. The green finish is unique and adds a splash of color, while still retaining a very classic and elegant look. But if you’d rather have something a bit more modern, take a look at the new Souverän Stresemann: the black and grey color scheme finished with silver-colored trim, makes for a business-appropriate and subtle writing instrument. Available in different sizes, the Souverän collection has something for every hand: from the smallest M300 to the large and stately M1000. The power of the fountain pen lies in the writing experience of course, so every Souverän fountain pen receives a beautiful, solid gold nib for a smooth and effortless writing experience.
