Platinum #3776 Century Uroko-Gumo Limited Edition Fountain Pen

The Fuji Unkei series is a collection of pens inspired by the breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji surrounded by ethereal clouds. The first pen in this series is the “Uroko-Gumo,” which captures the beauty of cirrocumulus clouds through its unique design.

The body of the pen features an irregular pattern, in contrast to the regular patterns of the Fuji Shunkei series. This, along with slight indentations, creates a play of light and shadow that mimics the appearance of cirrocumulus clouds. The pen also features a bi-colored design, with a dark blue-grey cap representing the changing colors of Mt. Fuji, and a clear body with an intricately carved design.

The special edition packaging includes an image of cirrocumulus clouds, as well as a converter, ink cartridge, and a special-colored ink called “Aka-Fuji.” The #3776 CENTURY Fuji Unkei series also comes with a 20ml bottle of Aka-Fuji ink, named after the famous painting “Gaifu Kaisei” by Katsushika Hokusai. This unique ink features a gradation that changes from green to reddish with the addition of light, mimicking the painting.

The original #3776 series was designed by the late writing expert Haruo Umeda, known as “Mr.Fountain Pen,” along with the design team at Platinum Pen Company. Their aim was simple- to create the ideal fountain pen. The #3776 was made available to the public beginning in 1978. After just six months, over 150,000 pens had been sold, and its popularity has been maintained ever since. #3776 expresses the height in meters of Mt. Fuji, the highest and most beautiful peak in Japan.
