S.T. Dupont lighters: French craftsmanship since 1872

S.T. Dupont started in 1872 in Paris, in the workshop of Simon Tissot-Dupont. In 1941 the brand made its first luxury lighter, and it became the best-known product of the house. The classic models are made in Faverges, France. Typical of S.T. Dupont are natural Chinese lacquer, guilloché (a fine pattern engraved into the metal), the diamond head motifs and the clear sound when the lighter opens: the cling.

Soft flame or torch flame?

The first choice is the type of flame.

• Soft flame: a calm yellow flame lit with a flint, as on the classic models. Ideal for cigarettes.
• Torch flame: a very hot, wind-resistant blue jet flame. Ideal for lighting a cigar evenly, outdoors too.

Lighters with a soft flame

• Ligne 2: according to S.T. Dupont itself the most emblematic lighter of the brand, with the famous cling. In black lacquer, guilloché or diamond head, with a gold or palladium finish.
• Ligne 1: the classic with a soft yellow flame and the cling, in guilloché or lacquer.

Le Grand: soft flame and torch flame in one

According to S.T. Dupont, the Le Grand is the first luxury lighter with a dual ignition system: the soft flame of the Ligne 2 and a powerful torch flame for your cigar, in one lighter.

Torch lighters for cigars

• Biggy and Slimmy: inspired by the Ligne 2, with a torch flame. The Biggy is the larger one, the Slimmy fits in any pocket.
• Twiggy: slim and elongated, with a torch flame of about one centimetre.
• Slim 7: a very thin torch lighter.
• Maxijet and Minijet: the well-known torch lighters in a large and a small size.
• Megajet: a sturdy torch lighter with a powerful flame.
• Défi Extreme and Windproof: robust and made for the outdoors and the wind.

Questions about S.T. Dupont lighters

Which gas should I use?

S.T. Dupont supplies its lighters without gas. Always use the original S.T. Dupont refill gas made for your model. Each line has its own refill that fits the valve exactly. Other gas can damage the lighter, and that damage is not covered by the warranty.

My lighter has a weak flame or no spark. What now?

A weak flame usually means the gas is almost empty. If a lighter with a flint no longer sparks, the flint is worn. In doubt? Bring the lighter to our shop in Antwerp.

How long is the warranty on an S.T. Dupont lighter?

S.T. Dupont gives a two-year warranty with the standard warranty card.

Can every S.T. Dupont lighter be repaired?

S.T. Dupont can repair the classic models such as the Ligne 2. According to the brand, the Minijet, Maxijet, Megajet, Slim 7 and Défi Extreme are not repaired in case of a defect, but replaced with the same model.

Which S.T. Dupont lighter is best for cigars?

A torch lighter: the Maxijet, Megajet or Défi Extreme for every day, or the Le Grand if you also want the soft flame. For cigarettes and a classic gift, choose a Ligne 2 or Ligne 1.
