The S.T. Dupont Le Grand is the big brother of the famous Ligne 2. The Paris Maison has built luxury lighters since 1941, and the Le Grand is its larger, heavier take: around 6.6 by 3.9 centimetres and roughly 175 grams, with a solid brass core finished by hand in France. That extra bulk is not for show. It houses a second, hidden flame system.
Because that is what the Le Grand is really about: the dual ignition system. Roll the thumbwheel and two soft yellow flames appear side by side, wide enough to toast the foot of a cigar evenly without scorching it. Push the wheel up and they give way to a powerful blue jet flame that lights in the wind and corrects an uneven burn. And you still get the "Cling", the bright metallic note when it opens, which rings even louder and fuller on the Le Grand than on the Ligne 2.
