The Tom Hessin collections
Each collection has its own material and its own way of closing the cap. The Edinburgh Collection and the Revolution Collection have real wood barrels: Edinburgh in four colours named after places in Edinburgh, Revolution in ebony, walnut or sandalwood with metal bands, also as a mechanical pencil. The Rebel Collection is lacquered, with a gunmetal clip and a click-close cap. The Magnetic Series is metal with a guilloché diamond pattern, and the fountain pen and rollerball caps close with a magnet. The Charles Collection is a resin fountain pen with a screw cap and the widest choice of nibs, up to flex and 1.5 mm calligraphy. New is the Charles 1870 Gherkin: a metal fountain pen with a relief of small diamonds and a screw cap, inspired by The Gherkin in London.
Every pen carries the clip with five diamonds, one for each generation of the Hessin family, and comes in a Tom Hessin gift box. Each fountain pen includes a converter. Rebel, Revolution and the Magnetic Series can be engraved.
Questions about Tom Hessin
Where does Tom Hessin come from?
From Birmingham, England. The brand goes back to T. Hessin & Co, which made pen nibs there in the 19th century, including at the Magnetic Works. The five diamonds on the clip stand for the five generations of the family.
Which Tom Hessin fountain pen suits me?
If you like wood, choose Edinburgh or Revolution. For a lacquered pen with a firm click-close cap, Rebel is a good choice, and if you like metal and a magnetic cap, go for the Magnetic Series. If you want to play with the nib, the Charles offers flex and calligraphy.
Which ink cartridges fit a Tom Hessin fountain pen?
Each fountain pen comes with a converter and black ink cartridges. For the Edinburgh Collection and the Magnetic Series, Tom Hessin specifies standard international cartridges; with the converter you can also use bottled ink.
