Filofax has been around for over a century. The loose leaf ring system was devised around 1910 by Canadian engineer J.C. Parker, who founded the Lefax brand in Philadelphia. In 1921 the London firm Norman & Hill began importing the organisers and soon started making them under a new name, Filofax, taken from the phrase "file of facts". During the 1980s the Filofax became a true status symbol for successful professionals, and the system is still loved today for its flexibility and timeless look.
