The J. Herbin 1798 Kyanite du Népal is a bright blue leaning towards turquoise with a fine silver shimmer. It is named after kyanite, a blue gemstone from Nepal, and the colour follows suit. J. Herbin's 1798 range is built around gemstones, and this is one of its most striking shades.
The shimmer floats in the ink and settles to the bottom over time. Give the bottle a short shake before use, and now and then while writing, to keep the silver particles evenly spread. The ink flows smoothly, shows medium shading, and dries reasonably quickly on good paper.
It comes in the signature square 50 ml glass bottle with a cap hand-dipped in sealing wax and a "1798" wax seal on the front.
