The Montegrappa Extra 1930 Black & White Fountain Pen is Montegrappa's flagship in its current form. The body is rare Mazzucchelli celluloid, black with grey and white veins. Celluloid has been a cornerstone of Montegrappa style for almost a century, prized by collectors for its pleasant grip and its deep, rippling pattern. The trim is sterling silver 925: the cap band carries a Greek key border with the Montegrappa script, and the cap top bears 1912, the year the company began.
Inside is Montegrappa's patented piston mechanism, turned by a 32 tooth knob with a soft click. An ebonite feed carries the ink to a handmade 18 carat gold nib, decorated with the linked octagon filigree that goes back to the Reminiscence, the first Montegrappa of 1915. The grip section is celluloid as well, so it feels secure in the hand.
The pen is 138 mm long, 16.6 mm across and weighs 44 grams. It comes in Montegrappa's Premium box with a 50 ml bottle of ink, ready to fill. Extra ink is sold separately in our Montegrappa refills.
