With the Caran d'Ache Toile de Jouy Limited Edition Fountain Pen the house pays tribute to Geneva, the city where it began. The barrel and cap are finished in a glossy, pearly burgundy lacquer. Engraved into it is a Toile de Jouy of Geneva that lays bare the gold plated metal underneath: the Jet d'Eau, the Pont du Mont-Blanc and Place du Bourg-de-Four with the Caran d'Ache boutique. Clouds and a hot air balloon tie the scenes into one continuous stroll through the city.
Each barrel and cap is machined individually, and the motif takes close to an hour of precision work per pen. Clip and button are 18 carat gold plated, with the Caran d'Ache hexagon in burgundy lacquer. There are 60 fountain pens worldwide, with "1 in 60" engraved on the back of the button. The nib is 18 carat yellow gold, polished by hand.
The pen comes in a wooden Varius case lined with imitation leather, with a Limited Edition certificate. Inside are a converter and two Idyllic Blue cartridges; after that you can use Caran d'Ache Chromatics cartridges or bottled ink. This edition cannot be engraved. More pens are in the Caran d'Ache range.
