Faber-Castell turns 265, and the house marks it with the Classic Magnum Anniversary Edition: a fountain pen in Magnum format, its finely fluted barrel cut from pernambuco wood and set with platinum-plated metal.
Pernambuco is the wood violin bows are made from. Its warm red brown grain runs differently through every barrel, so no two pens look alike. Graf von Faber-Castell works with pieces that are no longer the right size for a bow while losing nothing in quality.
The handmade 18 carat bi-colour nib is made in Magnum format and tipped with iridium. An anniversary engraving runs around the clip ring, and the metal cap at the end of the barrel carries its own serial number. The pen takes a cartridge or converter and arrives in a gift box with a leather insert.
