The Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days collection takes inspiration from Jules Verne's iconic adventure novel. Crafted from dark blue precious resin, this LeGrand Fountain Pen captures the final chapter of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout’s journey – from Yokohama back to London via the United States.
A finely lasered train adorns the cap, symbolizing their trek across the vast American landscape. The cone features a safety chain motif, evoking the dramatic moment when Passepartout unhooks the train from the locomotive to save the crew from a Sioux attack. The cap showcases pressure valves and billowing steam, while the clip is embellished with a red-lacquered heart suit – a symbol of the bond between Fogg and Princess Aouda.
The card suits also reference Fogg’s bold wager to complete his journey in just 80 days. Embossed atop the cap is the timeline: 36 days from Yokohama to London, bringing the total around-the-world voyage to 80 days.
The handcrafted 14K gold nib is engraved with the dates "14/11" and "21/12" – marking Fogg’s departure from Yokohama on November 14 and his aim to return to his London club by December 21 to win the bet. The nib is also decorated with a hot air balloon, a nod to Jules Verne’s very first adventure novel.
