Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Henri Matisse Limited Edition 4810 Fountain Pen

The Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Henri Matisse Limited Edition 4810 Fountain Pen is a tribute to the French artist Henri Matisse, one of the defining figures of twentieth century art. The design takes its cue from his Blue Nude III: cap and barrel are finished in blue and white lacquer with platinum coated fittings. What looks at first like an abstract play of white and blue shifts as you turn the pen, and the female figure appears. The full, almost sculptural shape of the cap echoes the rounded forms found in many of Matisse' sculptures.

The cap top carries blue precious resin around the Montblanc emblem in white precious resin. On the platinum coated cone sits a botanical pattern whose elliptical shapes recall flower petals. The handcrafted nib in solid Au 750 gold (18 carat) with a rhodium coating is embossed with two botanical elements drawn from Matisse' work The Sheaf, with the interwoven letters H and M between them. The white lacquered clip has an organic shape rooted in the leaf shapes of that same cut paper composition. The nib is available in F and M widths.

The edition is limited to 4810 pieces worldwide, the number Montblanc uses to mark the height of Mont Blanc in metres. The pen measures 147.8 mm with a diameter of 20 mm. It arrives in a prestige gift box.
