The Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days collection draws inspiration from Jules Verne’s iconic adventure novel. Crafted from dark blue precious resin, the Classique Fountain Pen recounts the final leg of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout’s journey – from Yokohama back to London via the United States.
A finely lasered train on the cap illustrates their crossing of the American continent. The cone is adorned with a safety chain pattern, recalling the critical moment when Passepartout unhooks the train from the locomotive to save the crew during a Sioux attack. The cap design includes pressure valves and billowing steam from the locomotive, while the clip features a red-lacquered heart suit – symbolizing the bond between Fogg and Princess Aouda.
The card suits also represent Fogg’s daring wager to circle the globe in just 80 days. Embossed atop the cap is the timeline: 36 days from Yokohama to London, completing the journey in a total of 80 days.
This refined writing instrument is finished with a handcrafted 14K gold nib, engraved with the dates “14/11” and “21/12” – marking Fogg’s departure from Yokohama on November 14 and his goal to return to London by December 21 to win the bet. The nib is also embellished with a hot air balloon, a tribute to Jules Verne’s first adventure novel.
