Pelikan Souverän M400 Black Green Fountain Pen

The Pelikan Souverän 400 Black Green Fountain Pen has the black and green striped barrel that Pelikan has been known for since 1950. The barrel is cellulose acetate, worked into a fine striped sheet by Pelikan's own recipe and then ground to shape with a diamond. Cap and grip section are deep black resin, with gold plated rings and the familiar pelican clip. It is a classic, and somehow still looks current.

The nib is 14 carat gold, two tone, finished with a rhodium decor, and every one is checked by hand before it ships. The 400 is the smallest pen in the Souverän range, so it stays light in the hand; post the cap on the end if you want a longer grip. You pick the width yourself: extra fine, fine, medium or broad.

It fills through Pelikan's built in piston system. Dip the nib into a bottle, turn the knob at the end, and the reservoir draws up the ink. So you use bottled ink rather than cartridges. Pelikan Edelstein ink goes well with it and is ordered separately. The pen comes in a Pelikan gift box.
