The name "Travia" merges Tradition and Via, the Latin word for "path." It is a fitting name for a pen that builds on more than four decades of Japanese pen craftsmanship. In 1978, Platinum developed the #3776 as the ideal writing instrument, named after the altitude of Mt. Fuji at 3,776 metres. In 2011, the #3776 Century followed with its revolutionary Slip & Seal mechanism, and later the DECADE marked its tenth anniversary. The Travia represents the next chapter: a pen that carries the heritage forward while charting a new course.
The #3776 Century Travia adopts the flat-top silhouette of the DECADE and evolves it into an elongated format with a metal balancer integrated at the centre of the barrel. The grip section is also made of metal, moving the centre of gravity closer to the fingertips for a low, stable balance that holds up equally well during quick notes and long writing sessions. The Onyx Black model pairs a resin barrel and cap with black chrome and nickel plating across all metal components, completed by a ruthenium-plated 14-karat gold nib that gives the pen a deep, contemporary and quietly elegant presence.
The FLAF nib, short for "Float Like A Feather," is the technical heart of the Travia. This 14-karat gold nib responds to writing pressure in a direct, linear way: line variation changes in precise proportion to the force applied, keeping you in full control at every moment. Compared to the classic #3776 Century nib, the FLAF nib flexes with less force, creating a light and springy writing feel. The pen is available with a fine or medium nib and is compatible with Platinum ink cartridges.
