Tactile Turn Ansø Ballpoint Brass

The Tactile Turn Ansø Ballpoint Brass is a collaboration between Danish industrial designer Jens Ansø and Tactile Turn of Dallas, Texas. Ansø has been making internationally recognised knives since 2001, and his approach to design has always been the same: clean forms, considered materials, and nothing that doesn't earn its place. This pen is his first, and it carries that thinking through completely.

The hexagonal body is the most immediately striking detail, and also the most technically demanding. Rather than using brass extrusions, which is the straightforward route, Tactile Turn used polygonal turning to machine the hex shape from round stock. It takes more time and more precision, but the result is a pen that feels genuinely different in the hand. The 40 mm knurled grip section gives confident purchase without being uncomfortable over longer writing sessions. The side click mechanism sits opposite the clip, a consequence of the pen's extremely slim 8 mm diameter. At 33 grams, the brass body has a grounded, substantial feel, and it will develop a natural patina with use, making each pen its own over time.

Included is an Ohto PG-105 refill in blue, 0.5 mm.
