The Blackwing Desktop Sharpener is built around a helix blade that produces a clean, consistent point every time. A dial on the crank lets you set the exact point shape you want, from a long curved tip to something short and blunt. After sharpening, the mechanism pulls the pencil back automatically so the lacquer finish stays intact.
A built-in automatic brake stops the process before you over-sharpen. A small detail, but it matters when you're working with pencils worth looking after.
The body is matte black metal and polymer. Solid without being heavy. Shavings collect in a pull-out drawer that clicks firmly shut. Works with all standard Blackwing pencils.
