The Montegrappa Elmo 02 Cortina Fountain Pen starts from an archive design by Heinrich "Elmo" Helm, co-founder of the Bassano factory. In the 1920s Elmo pens were found in offices and classrooms all over Italy, known for their inventiveness. They were built in the same manufactory where Montegrappa works today, and their evolution shaped more than a century of Montegrappa style.
The shape belongs to that era, with a hint of early Art Deco: gently tapered ends, a grip section that rises like a ski jump and a brass cummerbund clip. The design keeps metal parts to a minimum without losing any of its flair. Cortina is the marbled version in green resin, an alternative to classic jet black. The swirls form at random as the resin is blended, so no two pens are alike.
The Elmo 02 is 142 mm long, 17 mm across and weighs 30 grams. The stainless steel nib writes with cartridges or a converter, and two cartridges plus a converter are included. With the converter it fills from a bottle. Spare cartridges and ink are sold separately in our Montegrappa refills.
