The Montegrappa Elmo 02 Plus Night Fountain Pen is Heinrich Helm's 1925 design, given a full refit with modern mechanics. Helm co-founded the Bassano factory, where Elmo pens became known all over Italy in the 1920s. The Elmo 02 silhouette stays: turned, tapered ends and a cummerbund clip, here in palladium plated brass. Night is the glossy black resin version, part of Montegrappa's Vintage Class, the line that brings back early pen shapes.
The change is inside. The Piston Plus system is a new sealed piston mechanism that fills the whole barrel with ink instead of a separate reservoir. That gives it 1.5 ml of ink with less fuss when filling. A window around the pen shows in good time when the ink is running low, which helps on long writing days.
It fills straight from the bottle with the knob at the end, and the stainless steel nib then keeps going for a long time. The pen is 142 mm long, 17 mm across and weighs 37 grams. Ink is sold separately in our Montegrappa refills.
