The LAMY 2000 ballpoint pen looks identical to every other pen in the series. Same Makrolon body with matte finish, same spring-loaded clip in brushed stainless steel, same unbroken 140 mm silhouette. The only external clue that this is a ballpoint is the small push button at the end, which extends and retracts the tip.
At 16 grams and 12 mm in diameter, the ballpoint is slightly lighter and narrower than the fountain pen and rollerball in the same series. It sits a little differently in hand — livelier, though still well balanced. The push button is smooth and precise. The LAMY 2000 has received the German Design Award, the iF Industrie Forum Design Award, the red dot Design Award and the Brand of the Century title.
The pen comes fitted with a LAMY M 16 giant ballpoint refill in size M, black.
