Which Montblanc fountain pen suits you?
The Meisterstück comes in three sizes, and they differ in more than size. The Meisterstück Classique is the slimmest. It has a 14 carat gold nib and fills with a converter or with cartridges. The Meisterstück LeGrand also has a 14 carat nib, but it is a piston filler and takes ink straight from the bottle. The Meisterstück 149 is the largest, with a handmade 18 carat gold nib finished with a rhodium coating.
The StarWalker is the modern one: matt black precious resin, a curved clip and the star under a transparent dome on the cap. It has a 14 carat gold nib too. You will also find the John F. Kennedy here, and special editions such as Great Characters and the Writers Edition.
You choose the nib when you order. Usually that is Fine or Medium. The LeGrand and the 149 often come in Extra Fine as well, and some versions of the 149 in Broad. What is the difference between the Meisterstück Classique, LeGrand and 149?
Size, filling system and nib. The Classique is the slimmest and fills with a converter or cartridges. The LeGrand is a piston filler. The 149 is the largest and has an 18 carat nib; the other two have a 14 carat nib.
Which ink do I use in a Montblanc fountain pen?
Montblanc ink, in cartridges or from the bottle. The LeGrand fills from the bottle only; the Classique also takes cartridges.
Can I choose the nib?
Yes. You pick the nib when you order. What is available depends on the model and the version: usually Fine and Medium, and often Extra Fine as well on the LeGrand and the 149.
