Monteverde MP1 Starry Night Piston Fountain Pen

The Monteverde MP1 Starry Night Piston Fountain Pen wraps Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night around a working fountain pen. Van Gogh painted it in 1889: a night sky of deep blues and bright yellows, swirling lines and stars that seem to glow. The painting runs around the stainless steel cap, applied by Monteverde in a multi-stage printing process that keeps the colours and brushstrokes sharp. Every pen is individually numbered.

Underneath the artwork is the MP1, Monteverde's first fountain pen with a built-in piston filler. The grip section and barrel are made as one seamless transparent piece, so you can always see how much ink is left in the 2 ml reservoir. The front section is fixed to the barrel and should not be unscrewed. Under the lacquered aluminium blind cap sits the Lock-It piston, which stays locked while you write or carry the pen. You fill it straight from a bottle, for example with Monteverde ink.

The #6 steel JoWo nib is made in Germany and paired with a plasma-treated feed for an even ink flow. There are six nib sizes: Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, Stub and Omniflex, a soft nib that flexes with the pressure of your hand. The pen is assembled in California and comes in a luxury paper box, without an ink bottle. See also the other colours of the Monteverde MP1.
