Pelikan Souverän M1000: the largest pen in the Souverän range

The M1000 has sat at the top of Pelikan's Souverän range since 1997. It only comes as a fountain pen. Capped it measures about 14.7 cm, and you notice that in the hand: it is fuller and heavier than an M800. If you like a substantial pen, or you have large hands, this is the one to try.

There are two versions. The M1000 Black has a barrel in deep black resin. The M1000 Black Green has the green striped barrel in cellulose acetate that makes a Pelikan easy to spot. On both, the clip and rings are finished in 24 carat gold. The handmade nib is 18 carat gold, two tone with a rhodium coating, and is available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. It has a little more give than the nibs on the smaller Souverän models. Every nib is tested by hand.

The M1000 is a piston filler and takes ink straight from the bottle. It does not use cartridges or a converter. For ink, have a look at Pelikan Edelstein ink. If you want a different nib later, the M1000 nib is sold separately. Prefer the same design one size down? See the Pelikan Souverän 800. The full range is under Pelikan pens.
