Sheaffer Balance III: the streamlined pen returns
The first Sheaffer Balance came out in 1929 and stood out for its shape, a body that tapers to a point at both ends. Plenty of later pens borrowed that line. The Sheaffer Balance III picks it up in glossy black resin, with Sheaffer's white dot at the top.
Most of the news is in the fountain pen. It has a integrated piston that holds 2 ml of ink, which Sheaffer says is the largest capacity it has ever put in a fountain pen, and an ink window. The two-tone #6 steel nib comes in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. The rollerball has a screw-on cap and the ballpoint works with a twist mechanism. Every pen is offered with a gold plated or a chrome plated clip and rings.
The fountain pen fills from a bottle. Ink and the refills for the rollerball (Sheaffer Slim) and the ballpoint (Sheaffer K) are listed with our Sheaffer refills. All pens come in a gift box with a leather pouch and a cleaning cloth.
