About the Charles Collection

The Charles is a classic fountain pen with a tapered barrel in European resin and a cap that screws on, so it stays closed in your bag. The steel clip carries the five diamonds. Each fountain pen comes with a converter and two black ink cartridges, in a Tom Hessin gift box.

Choose from Extra Fine Flex, Fine, Medium, Broad or 1.5 mm calligraphy. Fine, Medium and Broad have an iridium tip; the flex and calligraphy nibs are steel without an iridium tip. The colours: Birmingham Noir, Signature Blue, Castle Claret, Exhibition Red, Thames Blue and Highland Green. Other collections are under Tom Hessin.

Questions about the Charles Collection

What does a flex nib do?

A flex nib springs: press harder and the two tines spread further apart, making the line wider. That gives you more contrast between thin and thick strokes.

When should I choose the 1.5 mm nib?

For calligraphy and decorative lettering. The broad, flat tip gives thick downstrokes and thin upstrokes, depending on the angle you write at.

Can I have a Charles engraved?

No, the Charles cannot be engraved. For engraving, have a look at the Rebel, the Revolution or the Magnetic Series.
