The Lamy 2000 Metal Fountain Pen takes Gerd A. Müller's 1966 design and renders it entirely in stainless steel. Barrel, grip and cap are brushed by hand to a soft matte finish, while the solid clip keeps a touch more shine. This is a pen that does not announce itself: clean, restrained and instantly recognisable by its shape.
The steel build brings the weight to around 54 grams, noticeably heavier than the classic Makrolon model. That extra mass makes for a calm, well balanced pen that sits comfortably in the hand. The semi hooded nib is 14 carat gold, platinum coated and hand finished. The cap closes with a simple push fit, with no threads to turn.
The Lamy 2000 Metal is a true piston filler: you fill it straight from a bottle, so ink cartridges or a converter are neither needed nor compatible. The built in piston holds a generous amount of ink, which means plenty of writing between refills. The pen ships in a Lamy gift box.
