The Cross Classic Century 23 kt. Gold Plated Engraved Diamond Pattern Ballpoint Pen takes the narrow outline Cross is known for and cuts a diamond lattice into it. The pattern is chased into the metal rather than printed on, running the length of the slim barrel, with 23 karat gold plating over it and gold appointments on clip and cap.
At 7 to 8 mm across this is the narrow Cross, a pen that tucks between the fingers instead of announcing itself. What the engraved diamond pattern really adds is grip, on a plated surface that can otherwise feel slippery. A twist of the top brings out the tip. Cross guarantees that mechanism for life, meaning mechanical and manufacturing faults, not the small scratches and plating wear that come with carrying a pen daily.
In the barrel is a black medium Cross 8513 refill. Fine, broad and blue are sold separately under Cross refills. The same diamond pattern also comes in slate grey and cobalt blue, and anyone after more weight in the hand should look at the Century II. Supplied in a Cross gift box.
