The Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-Iro is a clear sky-blue fountain pen ink. Ama-Iro means sky colour in Japanese, after a bright blue sky on a clear day. It belongs to the Iroshizuku line, which Pilot launched in 2007 and which draws its colours from nature in Japan.
On paper Ama-Iro is light and fresh, a cheerful blue that reads easily. It writes smoothly and lays down a steady amount of ink.
Each 50 ml bottle is blown by mouth, so no two bottles are quite the same. The angled, notched base helps your pen reach the last drop. Iroshizuku has 24 colours, each with its own Japanese name, and the bottle looks good on any desk.
