The Blackwing 602 is not a new idea. John Steinbeck used to sharpen 24 of them before putting a single word on the page. Chuck Jones drew Bugs Bunny with one. The pencil went out of production, came back in 2011, and hasn't changed much since. That's the point.
The slogan is "Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed," which describes the graphite rather than selling it. The firm, smooth core sits outside the conventional HB scale and is built for writing fast without pressing hard. The body is a gunmetal grey finish. The square ferrule and pink eraser are as recognizable now as they were before the pencil disappeared.
Each set contains 12 pencils, boxed in a gift box that doubles as a pencil cup once opened.
- Graphite: firm and smooth, proprietary formula outside the HB scale
- Finish: gunmetal grey
- Iconic square Blackwing ferrule with pink eraser
- Set of 12, box doubles as a pencil cup
