The Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo is a vivid magenta-purple fountain pen ink. Yama-Budo means wild mountain grape in Japanese, after the deep purple-red of grapes in mountain forests. It belongs to the Iroshizuku line, which Pilot launched in 2007 and which draws its colours from nature in Japan.
On paper Yama-Budo is a bold magenta with purple and ruby undertones. It writes smoothly and lays down a steady amount of ink.
Each 50 ml bottle is blown by mouth, so no two bottles are quite the same. The angled, notched base helps your pen reach the last drop. Iroshizuku has 24 colours, each with its own Japanese name, and the bottle looks good on any desk.
