The Pilot Iroshizuku Hotaru-Bi is a fresh yellow-green fountain pen ink. Hotaru-Bi means firefly light in Japanese, after the soft glow of fireflies on a summer evening. It belongs to the Iroshizuku line, which Pilot launched in 2007 and which draws its colours from nature in Japan.
On paper Hotaru-Bi is a bright chartreuse green with a warm yellow glow. It writes smoothly and lays down a steady amount of ink.
Each 50 ml bottle is blown by mouth, so no two bottles are quite the same. The angled, notched base helps your pen reach the last drop. Iroshizuku has 24 colours, each with its own Japanese name, and the bottle looks good on any desk.
