The Platinum 3776 Century Fuji Unkei Unkai Fountain Pen closes the Fuji Unkei series. Platinum started the series in 2023, after Fuji Five Lakes (2011 to 2016) and Fuji Shunkei (2017 to 2021), and used it to show the #3776 Century in two colours for the first time. Unkai means sea of clouds: Mt. Fuji rising above a white layer of cloud in the light of the rising sun.
The transparent barrel carries two engraving techniques, with lens-cut facets and carved grooves, so the layers of cloud change with the light and the angle you look from. The cap and grip are the translucent brown of the mountainside on a clear autumn or winter morning. Inside the cap dome sits a nut that honours Mt. Fuji, the signature of the Fuji series, and the serial number is engraved on the dome.
The 14K gold nib has a rhodium finish and comes in Fine and Medium at Penworld. The Slip & Seal cap system of the #3776 Century keeps the ink from drying out in the pen.
The edition is limited to 1,500 pens worldwide. The gift box holds a converter, a blue black ink cartridge and a 20 ml bottle of the special ink Fuji-no-Ebizome. Its colour is inspired by Mt. Fuji at twilight: between purple and red, with a hint of green you only see in the right light.
