The Platinum Izumo Tagayasan Matte is a luxury fountain pen crafted from Bombay Blackwood, known in Japan as Tagayasan. The name translates to "wood as hard as an iron sword," reflecting the exceptional hardness and resilience of this rare material. Historically used across Asia for fine furniture, decorative interiors, walking sticks, and wooden swords, Tagayasan is prized for both its strength and its refined, natural beauty.
To ensure stability, the wood is carefully dried for 20 days to remove moisture before being hand-shaped and polished by skilled artisans. The matte urethane coating enhances both durability and elegance, while preserving the natural warmth of the wood. At 164 mm in length and weighing 38 grams, the Izumo Tagayasan Matte offers a substantial yet comfortable feel in the hand. Fitted with an 18K gold nib, available in F, M, and B, this fountain pen delivers a writing experience that blends strength, tradition, and refinement.
