The Sailor Shikiori Kiji is a deep blue fountain pen ink from the Noyama-no-Uta range. Kiji is the Japanese pheasant, the bird whose clear call carries through the cold winter air. You see that in the colour: a dark, full blue that opens up into lighter tones on white paper where the nib lays down less ink.
On smooth paper Kiji shows a red sheen, a reddish shine that catches the light at an angle. Sailor makes the Shikiori inks in Japan, and the same craft that goes into their nibs goes into the ink. It is water based and flows smoothly from most fountain pens.
Each bottle holds 20 ml in an octagonal glass jar that sits neatly on a desk. The Shikiori collection runs to more than twenty colours, from deep blues to soft greens.
- Deep blue ink with shading on white paper.
- Red sheen in raking light on smooth paper.
- 20 ml glass bottle.
- Water based, for fountain pens.
- Part of the Shikiori Noyama-no-Uta range.
