The Platinum Izumo Tagayasan Gloss is a luxury fountain pen crafted from Bombay Blackwood, known in Japan as Tagayasan. The name translates to "wood as hard as an iron sword," highlighting the exceptional durability and strength of this precious material. For centuries, Tagayasan has been valued across Asia for fine furniture, decorative interiors, walking sticks, and even wooden swords, admired for both its hardness and natural beauty.
To ensure stability, the wood is carefully dried for 20 days to release moisture before being meticulously hand-shaped and polished by skilled craftsmen. The glossy urethane coating enhances the natural grain and deep tone of the wood, giving the pen a refined and elegant presence. Measuring 164 mm in length and weighing 38 grams, the Izumo Tagayasan Gloss offers both substance and comfort in the hand. Fitted with an 18K gold nib, available in F, M, and B, it blends the warmth of natural wood with the sophistication of Japanese craftsmanship.
