Platinum Izumo Takeami Gozame Ankokushoku Fountain Pen

The Platinum Izumo Takeami Gozame Ankokushoku is a fountain pen that pays homage to centuries of Japanese bamboo artistry. Bamboo has been woven into the fabric of Japanese culture since ancient times, serving as both a practical material and an artistic medium. The Ankokushoku model captures this heritage through its carefully handwoven barrel, crafted by master artisans using traditional techniques that transform natural bamboo into a refined work of art.

The creation of this pen involves a series of specialized steps. First, the bamboo undergoes aburanuki, an oil-removal process that strengthens the material and enhances its natural luster. Next, it is cut to exact dimensions (arawari), shaped into uniform strips (habatori), and dyed with specially developed pigments. The strips are then woven in the classic “gozame” pattern, a texture both tactile and visually striking. To complete the process, the pen is finished with a layer of sabiurushi lacquer, producing a sophisticated surface where light and shadow shift across the weave. The Ankokushoku edition, rendered in a pitch-dark tone, conveys quiet strength and understated elegance.

With an ebonite core and an 18K gold nib available in F, M, and B, the Platinum Izumo Takeami Gozame Ankokushoku offers more than a writing experience—it is a collector’s piece that reflects the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship in its purest form.
